Probably not. They would say that Notre Dame improved over the course of the season and are looking better.
They kept a Big 12 Representative out of the playoffs a couple of years ago because they did not have a conference championship game. watch them crawfish if the same happens with Notre Dame. If there is any way possible to get Notre Dame in, they will.

ND would have the best resume of any 1 loss team with wins over Stanford, Michigan St, USC, NC State and Miami.
