Bingo! Someone finally saw this for what it it. This is going on not just at UT, but throughout all of college football. The marketing departments in big college athletic departments are staffed by guys in the 20s and 30s whose life goal is to work in the League. They care nothing about the traditions of college football in general or the school they work at in particular. They look to the generic, boring NFL as their model for what a gameday experience should look and sound like and are disdainful for everything that makes college football unique. Among other things they are telling the bands to play less so they can pump in this kind of generic "hype" music or show endless commercials. It's only going to get worse....
