imo, culture doesn't have anything to do with that loss. it was 100% coaching. they blew a 5 TD lead for god's sake. that would be very hard to do even if you planned it. the players obviously did not execute in the second half and they got "tight assholes" late; ie, they choked. all they needed to win was a friggin field goal in one half of football. I think they should have played their older QB, Hubinek (sp) and ran the football after their guy got hurt. but, once these comebacks get started they are hard to stop; it takes an offense to make a damn drive and scoring. takes time off the clock too.

All they had to do was fricking run the ball. That's it. Comeback or no. UCLA got like 5 possessions with less than 3 minutes on the clock.

That's why I maintain Sumlin was actually drunk on the sidelines. Even if you lost yardage every single time you could have ran the clock dead, winning the game.

Sumlin would rather look good win or lose, than play an "ugly" game.
