I had no idea we were going to be playing this many true freshmen. Our attrition at WR had to be terrible for us to end up playing this many freshmen. I did not look it up but I thought we took multiple WR's every year since Sumlin started.

Looks like the same situation with O-linemen. We are playing Prater, McCoy, and McCollum from Turner's first year. Sutherland, Lanfear, and Martin are holdovers from the last O-line coach. All of the depth substitutions seem to be true Fish. This is less surprising because the first O-line coach was such a disaster.

The mishandling of the QB position is well documented and not a surprise. It was too bad to see Starkel go down but we were going to have growing pains with Starkel or Mond either way.

I assume that Sumlin's narrative for the year will be he has a very strong staff in place across the board now and just needs time to bring the players from the last 2 classes along and that he is recruiting well.

In a state that produces qb, wr, ol, and Db's at an elite level, we've been wandering the desert for 6 years at these position groups.

With JFF, Evans, and an NFL depth chart at OL to recruit with and sell, we're going into sec play with bottom tier units at at least 3/4.
