Here is a recent list of most hated players in the NFL Newton comes in at third. He is behind Tom Brady. Unlike Brady he has no Super Bowl rings,so it isn't out of jealously, he has not been caught cheating(not proven at least) and simply put people just don't like him personally. Probably because he acted didn't dive for the ball in the Super Bowl and then acted like a child afterwards. Most football fans around the country simply don't like Newton. It is what it is.
I use ad blockers, so I have no idea if this site hits you with ads, and it is a slide show, as were all of the sites I found.
