Stealing texts from someones phone and using that against them is a crime. Not smart to suggest destroying evidence, but im sure it was an attempt to legally protect the girls.

Wait, what?! These girls were in a toxic situation. And as college students, I'm sure they were aware of the consequences of their actions.

I don't blame them for, and no one else should either, for doing what they felt they needed to do to get rid of a sexual predator. Who was supposed to be someone they could trust.

Sheesh.

Not necessarily.

Aside from the reason they got the texts, how they got them and the steps the owner took to protect them would play into any legal issues. Leave an unlocked phone laying around and someone looks at it? That's on you.
