i'll agree that BUYING great BBQ is Louisiana is rare (I've never found it better than average) BUT I have been to some of the best BBQ's in my life in Louisiana at peoples homes. esp. chicken and sausage with all the fixin's (incl dirty rice).
the best BBQ I've ever bought has been from Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. that certainly doesn't guarantee that if you get it in those states its guaranteed to be good tho. just a note; the Oak Room in Atlanta (near the northern perimeter) has the best beef ribs I've ever had in my life. I never miss eating there when i'm in town.
