Both scenarios are quite damning for Ole Miss but at least w/the former they can try and claim they were duped and look for a lesser punishment than if if it's the latter and they straight up knew what was up all along.

I'm of the opinion they knew and tried to cover it up. There's no way in hell you wade through 5 yrs of NCAA investigation and don't perform the simplest of compliance measures of monitoring by checking the employee's phone records for company issued phones. Just like a company issued computer, car, or credit card, the company has the right to monitor their own shite.
