Some of the willfully short sighted negativity about last year's team is astounding.

I don't believe it is short-sighted to see reality. Auburn 2016 at no time last season was truly a championship team. They were a very good team. A 9 win type team. Injuries caused us to win 8.
Every team has weaknesses. Our major two weaknesses were QB play and Oline play (especially pass pro). I would consider those weaknesses greater than say safety play.
