I will say that the checking of the skirts thing is a legit thing that goes on at pretty much every private school in the country. Except his way of checking skirts is kinda creepy.
Making the girls turn around and bend over???
Usually it's done by having them get on their knees and measuring how high off the floor the skirt hangs. Still somewhat weird, but way more appropriate than making the girls bend over and show you their arse.

that's an oddly specific rumor

Some girl was saying it happened to her on that Facebook group they created.
A whole lot of first hand allegations. And rumors of this stuff have been around ever since the dude was there.
I am convinced there is some truth to all this shite and it's disgusting.

The arse grabs and the take off that shirt are bad. Daddy beating him unconscious bad. But if it is proven he had sex with a student he will be in the pen for a long long time.
True or false he is a ruined man.

Where the hell did you go to school? I was in high school from 1986-90 and that shite would have and didn't ever happen. If a male principal made a female student change shirts in front of him back then their daddy would've beat his arse in less than an hour.

It's starting to look like Ole Miss knew about a lot of shady shite (some directly related to the football program, some not). That program is beyond fricked if any of the rumors are true much less several of them.

Interestingly enough they were blatantly recruiting kids to play football and basketball there, which is against TSSAA rules but MUS, CBHS, etc. do it too, just more subtly.
It was no longer against the TSSAA rules to recruit kids to private schools for sports after the private school/public school split in 1997. Some schools were doing it before then though

Well, I think what started all this were the allegations that he was having sex with some girl. It would have been stuatory. That is another first hand allegation. Second hand allegations that he was doing this with several other girls as well.
Taken as a whole the dude comes across as a legit pedo.

Ole Miss knew about it. You can bank on it. Well maybe not, considering how well they do investigative work. It's been proven the Ole Miss administration is incompetent in about everything.

I mean it definitely is still against the rules.
quote:
Section 17. Athletic recruiting is prohibi ted. Athletic recruiting is the use of influence on a student or the parents or guardians of a student, by any person(s) directly or indirec tly associated with the sc hool, to secure or retain a student for athletic purposes . In the event that there is a vi olation of this rule, there shall be a penalty against the school, and the student(s) who wa s the subject of the violation shall be ineligible for a minimum of one year.
TSSAA handbook (page 17)
However, because of the nature of private school (you have to recruit every single student to attend there over public school) and the religious foundations (help the poor, less fortunate) there is a giant grey area surrounding recruiting athletes despite it being against the rules.

the TSSAA split because private schools offer financial aid. It did not give schools the ability to have free reign to recruit athletes. Schools circumvent the rules, absolutely, but no they can't just recruit athletes. For instance, my school started "recruiting" after I graduated. ALL students still have to pass the entrance exams. Then they fill out the same paperwork other students do that receive financial aid. About 1/3 of our student body was on financial aid, most of them being non-athletes. However, the shite Braircrest was doing when Freeze was there, what Brentwood Academy has been doing for decades, and what Ensworth is doing now isn't exactly "by the book."
But yes, in a nutshell, they made private high schools switch divisions because of that.
ETA: additionally, if you transfer from a public school to a private school, you have to sit out a year. If you transfer from one private to another private, you have to sit out a year.

I was in high school from 1994-1998 and there was a football coach screwing the hottest girl in my class. The whole school knew it...hell the whole town knew it.
They got married the summer after she graduated. Not a damn word was ever said. Hell half the teachers at the school and the principal went to the wedding. I think that's just how it was back then. I mean hell me and my boys were pissed because we could get just about any girl in our class but not her because she was "taken" by our damn football coach.
To portray this as something that just didn't happen back then is probably not exactly accurate that's all I'm saying.

I have heard both, the former just being inappropriate touching.

I'm with you. anc is IMO one of the better posters here. But that wouldn't have flown in 1957. Nothing PC about a girl telling her dad Coach Smith did something and Daddy beating the hell out of the coach.

If it were up to me I'd get rid of the current administration right now..

FWIW, Briarcrest is a pretty weird school (it was originally a Southern Baptist school). It is especially religious even compared to the other private schools. The pre-escort Hugh Freeze fits that school to a T. Very in-your-face christian, very much about public perception, very pretentious if you ask me. Tuohy, who is a big OM booster, was very involved there as well. Interestingly enough they were blatantly recruiting kids to play football and basketball there, which is against TSSAA rules but MUS, CBHS, etc. do it too, just more subtly.
100% this

I appreciate the kind words.
I went to a small public school in Alabama. I distinctly remember a case where a girl had to change shirts in a principal's office because it was offensive. It was talked about, but nothing ever came of it. There were certainly rumors and innuendo that teachers and coaches had relationships with students.
My apologies for an anecdotical example. But I do believe some things that are considered inappropriate today would have been glossed over 20 years ago.
