Reputation is everything.
This kind of cheating will be a part of OM's legacy. If OM gets nailed to the wall, it will leave a stain that will affect many people in ways you're not yet facing. It will cast a negative light--not just on your football team, but on your university.
Football game attendance will plummet, which will hurt the town and its economy. When the name "Ole Miss" is uttered, folks will think cheats. That hurts student enrollment, faculty recruitment, and marketing.
Spend a few years going 0-fer, bowl banned, and not on TV, and watch how it affects your fans' attitudes. A cavalier, short-sighted "but we beat Bama twice" mentality is a complete head-scratcher to me. This is far different than the Nutt legacy--something that few outside of Ole Miss/the SEC even recall.
