First $2800 at a small business isn't as easy to hide from a third party accountant than you think, but yes, if that was all there was then I'd agree. That's laughable.
Its not just that. I love how you quoted the one thing that could be altered and ignored the rest.
Do yall really think they are bringing a lawsuit if they committed the crime? They will be audited by criminal investigators and there is far more to lose than to gain anyway. The cleanest business in the world do not want to be audited.
On a message board everyone has a bias and everyone sees what they want to see but at least look at the factors to determine if you are being logical or not.

The operation Barney had going on was pre-meditated, planned, and orchestrated to the point where the operation was systematic. Lodging, meals, transportation, etc was systematically facilitated by your Asst Athletic Director and he organized direct contact between Ole Miss Boosters and recruits.
This little civil suit between a Mom'n Pop store owner and a few SA's is small beans.
The NCAA investigated, issued the NOA, then went back and amended the damn thing, handed down their final allegations and OM has responded in kind. The NCAA won't be amending that thing again.

Ole Miss just got slapped with 21 violations, 15 being level 1. These violations run the gamut NCAA rules violations. But because y'all are arguing the minor details of one of these allegations because timelines don't sync up and 'the books don't show it', you think that MSU/Lewis/Mullen is going down or that that the NCAA will back off.
You really want to talk about

It isn't easy to hide that amount from a 3rd party accountant, but it is easy to "hide" if:
1) the accountant isn't a 3rd party or is told "we have an issue with theft". A retailer like this - with NO security tags (as Ole Miss fans have repeatedly told us) - is going to have a certain amount of theft, so they'll always be off on their #s any way.
2) it isn't hidden at all. perhaps someone actually purchased a gift card with cash (no record of who) and the recruits used that gift card(s) to pay for the merch. Nothing to "hide" there as books would be clear and names of purchasers (of gift card and merch) wouldn't be known.
I've said it before, but one of the oldest tricks to get kids merchandise is to have them go pick out what they want at a store and then tell the clerk something like "I forgot my wallet, can you hold this for me? My name is X". The clerk holds it and then later (usually after a shift change) someone else comes in and says "you're holding merchandise for someone named X." That person pays for it and gives it to the recruit later. I know of at least 2 SEC schools that's happened at, but in neither of those cases did the school know/arrange it.

How much do you think their revenue is? I'm gonna go ahead and do some math for you since OM doesn't maths. Let's wo with something small and easy 2.8 million dollars. How much do you think they have in shrink? Average retail shrink is 1.5%. 2800 dollars is .1% of shrink... Think about it a little more... Since OM fans must keep up with the latest fashion trends i'm betting RR is selling male rompers in their store for at least 140 dollars a pop. 20,000 students on campus and everyone has to have a romper that is 2.8 million in romper sales alone. so we all know they have way more revenue than that easy maths i showed you above bringing down the total % of shrink to revenue ratio even more.
