The pedophile cannot change. He or she can suppress their feelings in the wake of furious social reactions to their behavior but their condition is permanent. Given favorable circumstances with children they still pose a risk.

All can and do change. In fact, change is the only constant.
Consciousness is a state of awareness.
What one lacks in awareness is reflected in his consciousness.
The past is riddled with limited awareness. Let it stay there. The now is all that is real anyway. How are you in this moment is what counts.
Have compassion for the victim but realize in a lot of ways they both are victims, the young of an aggressor, the older of his own limited awareness and lack of compassion for the young relative.
He may have had similar things occur to him...I don't know.
