Actually South of Monterey is much better
The on shore flow makes Monterey very cool at night even in the middle of the summer. As bad as San Francisco. Not to mention the wind if you get into the Salinas Valley
You need jackets and sweaters after 4 pm.
Perfect climate is actually Santa Barbara or SLO county.
Pismo or Grover Beach is probably as close to heaven you will find climate wise

Have lived in South Texas and in Metro ATL. Would never return to either place. In fact, if I had to leave my retirement house in BTR and could not live in Louisiana, I would NOT move to any SEC state. I'd move to small town Colorado (Durango or Montrose or Gunnison) or Oregon (Bend or Redmond or Klamath Falls) or Montana (Bozeman).
