Just about a week before committing to Arkansas, Capers was strongly considering a commitment to South Carolina. Razorbacks wide receivers coach Justin Stepp has done an excellent recruiting Capers, and that is what it came down to. Stepp was in Georgia as much as he could be in January and the Razorbacks' consistency pushed them to the top. Capers is a big wide receiver with the frame to add good weight. Some think he stays at receiver while others feel he could grow into a hybrid and flex out as a tight end down the road and create mismatches. He runs good routes, he has consistent hands and he is still growing.

Coming off one of the best recruiting classes in school history, Arkansas is looking to put together another top class as Chad Morris and his staff work to rebuild the program. One of the in-state prospects that was made a priority in the early going, Jashaud Stewart made his commitment official during a visit to campus over the weekend. A versatile defensive end/outside linebacker hybrid player, Stewart’s versatility is a big reason why he was targeted by the Razorbacks staff. Considering there aren’t many Power Five level plays in the state, landing Stewart was key and now he can help serve as a recruiter alongside the school’s coaches the rest of the way.

There's a strong Arkansas buzz around "The Trio." Oklahoma class of 2020 prospects Javian Hester, Sevion Morrison and Myles Slusher have been dubbed “The Trio,” and are outspoken about their desire to play together in college. Although they attend different high schools in different cities, Hester, Morrison and Slusher have known each other since they were 5-6 years old and remain close friends to this day. Remarkably all three are ranked among the top six prospects in the state of Oklahoma’s 2020 class and have many of the same offers. Talking with other state of Oklahoma prospects, Arkansas was a school that was probably the school most often mentioned as a landing spot for “The Trio.” Slusher included Arkansas in his recent top ten, and Morrison and Hester both acknowledged strong Razorback interest on Sunday.

1. WR Ze'Vian Capers, Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark- Were we to pick a skill player for Alpha Dog, Capers would've been the clear choice. Checking in at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds Capers was the biggest receiver in either of the top groups. Despite the size, Capers was among the smoothest receivers in a loaded group, both during position drills and 1-on-1's. The Arkansas pledge was particularly sterling in 1-on-1's, as we didn't see him lose a rep all day. Capers runs routes like a much smaller receiver using his angular build, foot quickness and change of direction to create separation from defensive backs. The full arsenal was on display, as Capers won with double moves, vertical routes, in and out breaking routes and within the red zone. He was also stellar at the catch point, with some of the surest hands we saw, using his length to extend and high-point. Capers, who was highly productive as a junior also tested well, running a 4.57 second 40-yard dash, 4.44 second short shuttle and jumping 34.8 inches. No skill player did more to raise their stock in our eyes. Capers committed to Arkansas in February but plans on taking visits with an official to South Carolina set for April 26.

In what was ultimately a close race between a few prospects, the nod goes to Top247 offensive lineman Chris Morris considering he defeated another candidate in Desmond Evans to cap the one-on-one portion of the event (video above). The Memphis (Tenn.) Freedom Prep Academy offensive tackle sits strong at 6-foot-4, 290 pounds with long arms and great movement skill. He can get depth in his pass set without much effort and has the punch to force a defender to get to his secondary move in a hurry. Against the long and athletic Evans, Morris won with extension and athleticism. Evans countered with power and despite knocking the blocker off balance initially, he recovered in time to split the rep. The final battle between the two, as it got a bit rowdy, was won by Morris’ inside stab and redirection. He plays with a low base and doesn’t shuffle his plane no matter the defender’s approach a dominant day. More than 34 programs have offered but Arkansas Razorbacks hold a pair of 247Sports Crystal Ball selections at this time.
