As said, put the collar on. I'd even come over and be the official flag planter if you did that.
Otherwise, I think most, if not all, collars give an audible beep before the shock as the dog nears the wire. So buy your setup and and use it to locate boundary.

This wire locator is what you need to actually find the wire location. The collars will give an audible beep, you will have already paid for them and they will probably get you close enough.
