Not that familiar with said myth unless it refers to 2* and below diamonds in the rough that choose to go elsewhere.
Is their a myth that stud players who rebuffed MU were no good anyway due to tracking their NFL participation? If so that would be ridiculous.

Oh just something that popped into my head when I saw that Johnson and Chesson were drafted how certain individuals always tried to explain away losing a recruiting battle for a local kid as they weren't that good anyways.
I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard, after someone chooses a different school, that the kid wasn't that good anyways and "how many times does a kid choose a school besides Mizzou and do well? Never"....meaning that we didn't miss out on a recruit.

That's what I assumed you were saying.

Understood.
I come from the days of missing on Grant Wistrom and Bryant Cox, so I've never bought into something like that.

This is a frequent arguement on Arkansas boards, as well, when we miss out on an instate kid.

I think generally under GP the local recruits that he didn't really recruit didn't go on to be successful in college. It the recruits that Mizzou really wanted tended to have a lot of success. His evaluation system was pretty good.

The rate at which Arkansas misses out on in state talent is far less than Missouri. I get it happens from time to time. I just always found it amusing that the second someone chooses to go somewhere else, they supposedly languish in nothingness and never amount to anything.

Not questioning his evaluation system. In fact, I think his evaluation system made him who he was after his missed out on his first and second and third options.
Well, of recent, I'd say Elliott, Chesson and Johnson would disagree with you. If I wasn't so lazy I'm sure I could go research more names. Hell, I think Duron Neal even got drafted. Could be wrong.
Cheshire...what about the OL y'all got out of STL a couple/few years ago? I know he played and think he started. Is he draft material?

Those are all players GP recruited pretty hard. It's the local recruits that GP didn't really recruit that didn't amount to much in college.

Reedus, I think we now know either, ground zero for the myth or a person who feels the "personal need" to participate and pass it on.
Whatever gives you relief.

elliot chesson and johnson all chose blue bloods. We offered all of them. pinkel got duped by elliot just before signing day. Johnson and chesson never visited mizzou so pinkel never had much of a shot. He also missed on wallace(arky) and dewayne hendrix(tennesse). Pinkel's fault was not closing down the state. He tried but whiffed alot. He was an expert evaluator not recruiter.

Just to be clear, my point isn't whether or not GP had a chance with any of these guys. Just the homerism of saying that those that don't choose Mizzou never amount to anything.

Agree, plus he was able to coach up and to maximize each recruits' abilities and did not force a system upon them that would muzzle their abilities.
I think you know who and what I am referring to.

Meh, there was plenty of complaining about Pinkel's system as well
His positives vastly outweighed his negatives though

No I've never been those saying those that don't chose Mizzou are not talented. A classic example is Miller a 4 star RB and top ranked recruit in Missouri several years ago. Mizzou didn't even offer him. He went to Kansas and didn't do much.
There's a difference between the local recruits that GP targeted and missed on vs those that he evaluated and chose not to offer/recruit.
