Personally, I think the +4 yr investigation was excessive. However, if your multiple boosters and your own Asst Athletic Director hadn't continued with their systematic benefit scheme WHILE under NCAA investigation then there wouldn't have been a need for an amended NOA, a hit of LOIC, and Coach Freeze tagged with Failure to Monitor.

And specific to the FCA Director......why didn't Ole Miss Compliance just simply get the man vetted through the NCAA before they accepted his assistance and allowed him to organize meetings, transportation, meals, etc. to prospective recruits and their families?

Because our Compliance Dept was completely incompetent. Freeze and Heard had dealt with the guy while at Arkansas State and continued their relationship when they came to Ole Miss. In reality the student athlete in question was a 2* DT that they had recruited at Arky State and gave him a s holly when they moved to Ole Miss because he was a good kid. Plus when Ole Miss did identify the issue and report it to the NCAA the guy refused to stop because he believed he wasn't influencing the kid in a negative way and that FCA was exempt to the 9th grade rule.

incompetence...not having the luxury of our head coach being best friends and golf buddies with the head of the NCAA to guide us thru the landmine field of the NCAA got us blown up in the end.
