no, not evil. Misguided. A few other posters have gone into this a little bit already but basically we have been shown over and over that the dogmatic nature of the Jedi was their downfall. Their adherence to complete self denial and rejection of anything that they see as, let's be honest, human, is a recipe for disaster. It's not a coincidence that so many great Jedi fell so far to the dark side and became so evil. Luke uses both the light and the dark sides in the original trilogy. This is undeniable and has been discussed and proven ad nauseum. Luke is basically the ideal force-user. Someone who is Guided by his conscience and his sense of Good and Evil and who understands that emotion can be as powerful a Force for good as for evil. If Anakin were allowed to Simply Be human and feel his emotions without being made to feel like a traitor to the Jedi, he would have never become Darth Vader.

I could go on for many paragraphs and pages about this because I am that big a nerd but I will just close with one thing. In episode 3, Anakin tells Obi-Wan that if he is not with him he is against him. Obi-Wan replies that only a Sith deals in absolutes. See the contradiction here? Obi Wan's reply is itself a dogmatic absolutist statement that characterizes the old Jedi Order perfectly. Balance in the force is not just something that should be attained Galaxy wide but within the self as well. That's why Luke is so special and why he will never fall to the dark side as it were.

ETA: it's no coincidence that Yoda constantly rails against the danger of fear within the self yet he is one of the most fearful characters in the entire franchise. He is absolutely terrified of allowing himself to drop his unfeeling and disciplined view of what the light side is. He doesn't trust himself not to fall to the dark side and as an extension of that doesn't trust any Jedi to feel any emotion either.
