Poor/weak arm QB play had a hand in that, defenses knew they had nothing to worry about deep so they could stack the box. Franks may fire a hot one or a pick here and there but fear of the big bomb will at least keep defenses honest and help our run game in a big way.

Exactly. When a defense KNOWS that your QB can't beat them, you aren't going to be able to run the ball. Hopefully Franks creates some fear for defensive coordinators so they think twice about loading up the box without running the risk of Franks throwing a 50 yard bomb over their heads.
FSU has done this better than any team we've played. They've stacked the box and blitzed the shite out of the last two years and dared our QB to make plays. Treon had wide open receivers all game, and so did Appleby. FSU knew that they couldn't exploit it, so that's the result. If Franks can make teams pay for loading up the box and blitzing every play, it will open so many other doors for our offense and it's productivity.
