I have to say nice grab by Illinois all things considered.

Curious why Underwood would bail Okie State after just 1 year.

He was the lowest paid coach in the Big 12.

You guys had a top 5 list thread a while back and I suggested you all go after him because of someone I know at OSU telling me that he had his agent looking around.

His agent had suggested earlier in the season(towards the end when NCAAt appearance was for sure)that they may need to look at his contract again because the built in incentives were not enough. Even with incentives this season, he was still going to be the lowest paid coach in their league. The OSU AD said no, the contract is as it stands, and here we are.

Underwood was looking to get out.

Basically, any OSU coach is fair game. Their AD is still in the mid 90's when it comes to paying coaches and working with contracts. They're just flat out lucky that Gundy is still the HC of the football program. Gundy wanted, and thought he had the Arkansas job before Long hired Bert. Had Baylor not had such a black eye on the program, Gundy would have bolted their this off season.
