We can all laugh at LSU for having Orgeron as their coach. It seems like an overly risky move for a program of their stature. Maybe it will work out, but right now he's just never seemed like head coach material.
That said, this is the first I've seen the particulars of his contract. That's just absurd for him. I'm not a bleeding heart who doesn't understand that large investment in college football makes sense academically and fiscally in the South, but as a proponent of education, this unnecessarily large contract (particularly the buyout) just kind of makes me sad considering LSU's current budget woes. And that is an issue I will not laugh about.

Though I respect your opinion, it is pretty uneducated.
LSU does not have 'budget woes.' Neither does the state economy.
Now State GOVERNMENT? Yes, they do. But they are working on ways to balance the budget. Actually only 11% of the statewide LSU system's total budget comes from the State, and any cuts will not appreciably affect the University.
Nor will any cuts affect LSU's self-supporting Athletic Dept. It receives ZERO from the State, yet turns a hefty profit and even manages to contribute to academics on a yearly basis.
As far as Orgeron, he has assembled a top-notch staff. All 6 of his victories last year were ROUTS.
Florida was lost on the last play when Guice did not hear the formation and ran the wrong way on the 1 yard line.
Alabama was 0-0 in the 4th quarter. That's the only game I don't understand why we didn't have a better offensive game plan.
I'd put this coaching staff up against any other in the country.
