Bama gives him whatever he wants

It's called being committed to winning while fostering and growing the established winning culture. It would be different if there was no justification for his requests. Everything he's requested that has been provided has provided tangible return on investment.

why leave even if he doesn't care for it

b/c he could go to any school in the country (save maybe OSU) and get whatever he wants there too. he's got options at any given time, but he's developed relationships and a life in Alabama for himself and his family.

(and, yes, he could have contacted LSU during your "search" and said "I'll take the job for $X" and you guys would have pulled every muscle in your body trying to say yes fast enough)

That's an interesting discussion. At what number does LSU (or really any school) say no? Obviously it would vary a bit by school.

But let's just say A&M is fed up with Sumlin and they are looking to make a splash. They call up Jimmy Sexton and he tells them Saban wants $10m/ year. They probably say yes. But at what point is the money just too much? $15m/year? $20m/year?

I mean if you pay a guy $15m and that results in your profit increasing by $50m, that's got to make financial sense right?
