We now have a roster of spread quarterbacks who aren't skilled enough to be pure dropback passers

We don't know that to be so. Tua or Mac may be good to very good dropback passers. Hurts may develop a good game.

I'm not sure the spread helps recruiting, or at least Alabama recruiting. Running backs would probably prefer the pro set, whatever that means anymore. I am nearly certain that wide receivers would prefer a bona fide intermediate and long game, so they can show off, to what we had last year.

Saban has proven to be so far ahead of the curve that it's probably silly to question him, but I do wonder what he was thinking last year, to seemingly change direction again, so soon.

I meant we are still using the pro set as a recruiting tool. Not the spread. If we went to 100% spread then recruiting at OL and probably WR might suffer.
