We are talking about what helps build a resume better, being an OC at Alabama or South Florida.

Mac didnt go to power 5 from Bama, he went to Colorado State

Would Florida have hired Mac if he didn't coach at Alabama before Colorado State? Probably not. He won two NCs as our offensive coordinator.

Jimbo also didnt go to power 5 from Saban.

He was named head coach in waiting at FSU directly because of his work with Saban.

Smart did go straight to power 5, but he was defensive coordinator

It doesn't matter what side of the ball he comes from. He had experience working under the best in the business and he was rewarded for it.

However, Strong has had two coaches become head coaches

Mike Sanford: Indiana State
Jay Norvell: Nevada

I mean Tennessee hired Derek Dooley not for what he did at Louisiana Tech, but for the time he spent with Saban.

Hell, Saban even got Bobby Williams a head coaching gig.

And speaking of Michigan State, I forgot Mark D'Antonio is a Saban disciple as well.
