He hated recruiting and cried in a staff meeting because he got yelled at. Would you want him as your OC or head coach?

Jim Mac- to Colorado State-one of the worst programs in D1

He was a West Coast guy who used what he learned from Saban to land a Top 5 job and has won the SEC East in both of his seasons as the head coach at Florida.

Kiffin- to FAU-one of the worst programs in D1

Kiffin was going to get the Houston job before the Texas high school coaches puffed out their chests and demanded Applewhite be hired instead.

I dont think it is necessarily easier to turn the Bama OC job into a good head coaching job.

Maybe. Maybe not.

But think of it like this. We can all agree that Georgia, Florida and Florida State are definitely in the Top 15 coaching jobs in all of college football and their head coaches are all Saban disciples. You can throw Derek Dooley in there too if you want from his time at Tennessee.

Who from Charlie Strong's coaching tree has made the leap to a Power 5, Top 15 program level head coach?

This is disengenuos

Mac didnt go to power 5 from Bama, he went to Colorado State

Jimbo also didnt go to power 5 from Saban.

Smart did go straight to power 5, but he was defensive coordinator

However, Strong has had two coaches become head coaches

Mike Sanford: Indiana State
Jay Norvell: Nevada
