One of the top-ranked linebackers in the 2019 recruiting class committed to Alabama Friday morning.

King Mwikuta committed to the Crimson Tide during a ceremony at his high school.

The four-star Georgia product chose Alabama over schools such as Miami, Florida State and Georgia.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Mwikuta is the No. 5 outside linebacker and No. 58 overall prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

This is the Tide's fourth commitment for its 2019 recruiting class. All four players are ranked among the top-65 nationally, according to the 247 Composite.

LAGRANGE, Ga. — King Mwikuta, the nation’s No. 5 outside linebacker in the 2019 class from Troup County High School, has made his decision.

Mwikuta, a 4-star prospect, committed to Alabama over Georgia, Miami and Florida State during a school ceremony Friday morning. Mwikuta told SEC Country in October that he wanted to make his decision on his birthday. He felt he was ready to make his decision back then and he followed through with it.

Alabama has been his leader for several months now — dating back to the summer — the Crimson Tide never relinquished their lead. There was some cause for concern this past Sunday when Mwikuta released his final 3 schools of Georgia, Florida State and Miami. That turned out to be a stunt to gain some attention because most people believed he would ultimately choose Alabama.

The main reason why Mwikuta had Alabama as his leader and the biggest reason for why he chose the Tide had to do with his relationship with outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi.

“That’s pops right there,” Mwikuta said in October. “That’s daddy. He’s family. When I first met him, I was in the ninth grade. I went to Alabama for a camp. It was just an instant connection with him. Him, coach [Nick] Saban and [Derrick Ansley] are all like family to me. I look up to those guys.”

Mwikuta becomes the Tide’s fourth commitment in the 2019 class and first on the defensive side of the ball as he joins 5-star running back Trey Sanders and 4-star offensive linemen Pierce Quick and Deyavie Hammond.
