Alabama offered four-star athlete K'Vaughan Pope on Wednesday, the Dinwiddie High School football Twitter reported.

Pope currently has Florida as his favorite, according to his 247Sports player page, and is trending to the Gators at 100 percent on the Crystal Ball.

The Virginia product is also high on Clemson and Ohio State.

At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Pope is rated the No. 5 athlete and the No. 121 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Zamir White’s mother loves Saban and Lupoi | SEC Country
quote:

Georgia and Clemson are the two teams most associated with 5-star running back Zamir White. But if you ask his mother, she doesn’t understand why the Tigers have so much buzz around her son’s recruitment because she’s only been there once — and it was a short trip.

Shanee White, Zamir’s mother, told Jeff Sentell of DawgNation that Alabama and Georgia are her personal favorites. She believes she’s been to both schools nearly the same amount of times, but her son has visited Athens, without her, more than he has Tuscaloosa. Clemson shouldn’t be taken lightly, though. “Zeus,” which is Zamir’s nickname, said earlier this week that Clemson and Georgia were his two personal favorites.

Zamir White recently named a top 4 of Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and North Carolina. He’ll commit this summer.

Running back isn’t a priority for Alabama in the Class of 2018 because the Crimson Tide have six very capable running backs on their roster — three of those players are former 5-star recruits (Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris and Najee Harris).

White’s mother believes her son has a chance to see the field early in Tuscaloosa, despite a loaded backfield. She also is a big fan of Alabama’s coaching staff.

“I really like that coaching staff,” she said. “I mean Nick Saban is great. You get the chance to talk to Nick Saban and that man has a lot of wisdom about football and just life in general. About how the best ways he knows how to turn football players into men.”

Not only does she like Saban but also Alabama outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, who is White’s primary recruiter. Lupoi has established himself as one of the nation’s best recruiters, so if anyone on staff outside of Saban can convince a recruit to go to Alabama, it’s Lupoi.

“I know Tosh (Lupoi) comes a lot to (Laurinburg, N.C.),” she said. “Tosh is a very good guy. He’s a very funny guy. He is going to keep you laughing but also tell you how it is.”

She’s fully aware that Lupoi was a key reason why Harris stuck with his commitment in 2017. Again, the amount of talent at Alabama at running back will not be a factor why he does or doesn’t choose the school.

If you haven’t seen White’s highlights, I highly suggest you check them out. The Georgia staff told Scotland County High School’s coaches that White, as a sophomore in 2015, was the best running back the team was recruiting at the time. Yes, he’s that good.

Although Alabama has a running back in the Class of 2018 in 4-star prospect Dameon Pierce, the Crimson Tide would not hesitate to take White. He’ll announce his commitment on June 27, which is his mother’s birthday.
