"Clemson’s been an elite recruiting school for a few years under Dabo Swinney, and this year proves no different. Along with Thomas, the Tigers also have the 2018 recruiting class’ best offensive player and No. 1 player overall in QB Trevor Lawrence, according to the 247Sports Composite. Swinney’s not done collecting talent at the top of the recruiting rankings, and Thomas told us which player is high on the target list.

“We have the opportunity — I talked to Zamir White, and Trevor [Lawrence], of course Trevor’s already committed there,” Thomas recently told SB Nation. “Me and Zamir talked how we could have one of the best classes to ever go there, top three players in the country, [could] have a very special class going there.”

White is currently the No. 1 RB in the country and the nation’s No. 4 player. He’s not committed at the moment.

It’s still early in the cycle, but Clemson’s got an average 247Sports star rating of 95.09 with its seven current verbal commitments. If that number held to Signing Day, you could easily make the argument that this would be one of the best recruiting classes ever. "

Clemson will sign several 3* players to fill their class. That average will drop.

This might be overstating things a bit.

Their recruiting rankings the last 4 years have been:
2017-16
2016-11
2015-9
2014-17

So elite is pushing it a bit.
However, they have a great start this year....but it is only 2 months from the last class, so I think I'll wait and see if they can hold on to the class they are putting together. There is a long way to go.
