Yup. Personally if you can't commit then it's not an offer but that's how this dumb game of recruiting works. The good thing is now teams can send written official offers which really lets you know where you stand with a school. I doubt he got a written official offer

So now if a school sends a written official offer and the recruit accepts it, can it later be rescinded by the school?

Actually per other recruiting reporters they don't mean much in the end ultimately either because they aren't binding. The only papers that having real meaning from a school standpoint is Financial Aid papers (binding from school side) & NLI papers (binding from both sides).
