I see this line of thinking a lot. Am I alone in thinking 13 out of 20, while an improvement, is pretty average for a state with no in state competition? We act like "beating Bama" for an in state recruit is a huge deal. Shouldn't we expect to beat them for Ga players?

The no in state competition argument isn't a good one, imo. Georgia isn't a place that people grow up with some undying loyalty to the state like people in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama have. The growth of Atlanta has had people relocating from all over the country for decades. People with ties elsewhere and no real loyalty to the state. Combine that with fending off major programs right on the border, 13/20 is very, very good.

If we want the 10 year old whose parents moved from Ohio to be a big UGA fan, we're going to need a national championship. That will seed the crop of in-state recruiting dominance over the next 5-10 years.
