Would you say that Dabo is a better overall head coach than Mark Richt?

I don't know. If you want to compare their first 8 years as head coaches:

Richt was 82-22 (79%)
Dabo is 85-25 (77%)

Richt had 2 SEC titles. Dabo has 2 ACC titles.

Richt went to 3 BCS bowls going 2-1. Dabo it's hard to really answer because the BCS is gone but to make it apples to apples let's say he went to 4 BCS bowls going 3-1.

Richt finished ranked all 8 years, 6 of those top 10 finishes, and two top 3 finishes.
Dabo finished ranked 7 years, with 4 top 10 finishes and two top 2 finishes.

However, no I'm not going to say "Dabo is better than richt because he won a title" because is it absolutely NOT an apples to apples comparison. IF the playoffs existed when Richt coached he would have made the playoffs and would have played for a title. If the playoffs didn't exist yet (like they didn't during richt's first 8 years) then Dabo wouldn't have a title or any top 2 finishes either (since both came in the last 2 years)

Eh, Clemson would have probably gotten in if we still had the old BCS. I'd put Dabo over Richt for now. But like you said, there's a good chance Richt would have won a natty if the playoffs had always been there. With 2002, 2007, and 2012 being the obvious choices

I don't quite understand this point.

I was about to argue this point with you, since Dabo did have a title. However, you are correct, that Clemson was the #3 seed going into this playoff year, so he would not have played for a title this year. (Under the old BCS rules)
I would have to say that Dabo probably does populate a roster a bit better than Richt did. He probably (I'm not too sure and I'm too lay to look it all up) is a better evaluator of talent, as, I would guess, he probably did not bring in as many top classes as Richt did.

Clemson was #1 last year and #2 this year in final four rankings so this is wrong. In the BCS age, they we have made both

ETA Unless you are talking about the simulated BCS
