Scout dives in to share the top five defensive performers from Sunday's 2017 Under Armour All-America Game.
Dylan Moses, OLB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy — TEAM ARMOUR
The Alabama commit was around the football all day. He finished with 10 tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass break-up. Moses was the best linebacker from start to finish this week, and in the game, the five star played like his ranking.
Luiji Vilain, DE, Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal — TEAM ARMOUR
If you want to know who was close to about half a dozen sacks, it would be this guy. Vilain got around the corner and pressure the quarterback numerous times. He also flushed the quarterback out of the pocket and set the edge against the run a couple of times too. The Michigan commit has only played a couple of years, so his future is bright.
K'Lavon Chaisson, DE, Galena Park (Texas) North Shore, TEAM ARMOUR
Chaisson was the sack-master this game. He finished with three sacks and another five tackles for loss. He is so quick off the ball and with his length, he closes fast. Colorado, LSU, Texas and USC will host Chaisson on official visits this month. The Tigers are trending at this time.
Joshua Kaindoh, DE, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy — TEAM HIGHLIGHT
Kaindoh was the top performer after two practices and in this game, he came on late to be one of the top defensive performers. He batted down a pass, he hurried the quarterback a handful of times and he was consistently disruptive in the second half. The Florida State commit capped off a big week with a strong performance Sunday.
D.J. Johnson, DE, Sacramento (Cali.) Burbank Luther — TEAM ARMOUR
Like Chaisson, Johnson was a force in the backfield. The Miami commit worked his hands and quickness to get into the backfield, and he had two sacks on the day. He also had a couple of tackles for loss.
Others that were considered: Breon Dixon, Chris Allen, Markaviest Bryant and Tyler Shelvin.

Jeff Thomas, WR, East St. Louis (Ill.) High — TEAM ARMOUR
Thomas put on a show. When his number was called, he answered. He set a new Under Armour All-America game record with 123 yards receiving. He did that damage on two receptions and he took both of those passes to the house. He also had a nice kick-off return for 25 yards. Illinois is perceived as the favorite. He will visit the Illini and Louisville in January with a visit to Oregon possible as well.
Kellen Mond, QB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy — TEAM HIGHLIGHT
Mond was up and down as a passer Sunday, as he was throughout the week, but the intangibles is what put him on this list. He led his team in rushing with 96 yards and the way he extended plays was impressive. He finished with 90 yards passing. He is committed to Texas A&M.
Brock Wright, TE, Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair — TEAM ARMOUR
Wright was very impressive all week, and on Sunday, he showed strong hands, the ability to block big defensive ends, and the Notre Dame commit looks ready to make an early impact in South Bend (Ind.). He is a Scout 100 prospect and he led his team in receiving with 45 yards. He will be a go-to guy for the Irish.
Khalan Laborn, RB, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan Catholic — TEAM HIGHLIGHT
Laborn had some of the top runs in this game. He showed great cut-back ability, good balance and he hurdled a couple of defenders on different runs. For the game he finished with 77 yards rushing on eight carries, averaging 9.2 yards per run. The Florida State commit had one touchdown and five yards receiving.
Myles Brennan, QB, Bay St. Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus — TEAM ARMOUR
This LSU commit was the most accurate passer in this contest. He finished 7-13 for 111 yards. He was pressured quite a few times, he was flushed out of the pocket a handful of times, but he still delivered some good, timely passes.

Chris Allen didn't even play. WTF, scout?

Allen had a sack in the first half.

From 247's Game Thread:

LB Christopher Allen is dressed out. CB Stanford Samuels is in street clothes.

LSU commit Myles Brennan back in at QB for Team Armour.
Brennon throws incomplete to Alabama WR commit Jerry Jeudy on first down, then is sacked on second down for about a 5-yard loss. Christopher Allen credited with the sack.

Okay he had one tackle, which was a sack. Seems weird that he is listed as a standout. Chaisson is a LB too.

His grades are horrendous unfortunately.
He tried to commit to Alabama this summer and Saban wouldn't take it due to his grades so you know they must be bad. I mean, we got Eddie Lacy qualified and he couldn't spell his own name.

His grades are the only reason Butch has a chance at him
But if we are offering and pressing him this late, I would assume we could get him eligible. If not us, then Louisville will probably get that boy the grades needed. No chance he gets into Illinois

I think we're getting an official visit. I don't care if Lyle has to kneel down and suck his BBC, he better fricking sign this kid.

Saw that on the board, but haven't seen who's reporting. All I know is this kid would come in and probably be our 2nd best receiver day 1. Would lettuce move Byrd to CB without sacrificing too much offensively
