Is there anything else (rumor or otherwise) other than he got into a pissing contest with one of the players prior to the TN game? This doesn't seem like a reason to fire someone.

Thought he slapped/hit a player that started some serious commotion prior to the Tennessee game.

Oh that's the rumor I heard. No idea how true it is.
But Shipp did get sent packing that morning, didn't even coach in the Tennessee game.

All I heard was that there was an altercation between shipp and a player. Didn't say if it was verbal or physical

I know that's why I'm asking bc getting into a pissing contest doesn't equal an immediate firing. Getting physical with a player does but I hadn't heard that.

I understand that a coach never should hit an athlete.
However, I wonder if Shipp slapped a prima donna thug athlete who had an attitude, and perhaps in that moment Shipp was teaching the kid a valuable lesson that this kid likely missed during his childhood. Perhaps in that moment Shipp was being a man and treating this dickhead athlete as a man like a father occasionally teaches a son.
My hope is that Shipp's lesson will resonate with these fricking entitled clowns.
Did Shipp deserve to be fired? Yes.
But maybe the kid he slapped learned something that day. If so, Shipp and the kid are both winners.
