That's not the issue, IMO. They were bidding on a coach who is very comfortable where he's at and has a lot of job security (Fisher) and on a coach whose dream job (through no fault of LSU or lack of opportunity on their part) was Texas (Herman). They could've been willing to pay $5M-$7M and it wouldn't have changed much in the search. Herman's not worth $7M and Fisher's not worth a 10 year contract.

Money was not the issue at all. LSU football ranks near the top of the NCAA in money made. We only save 3 -4 mill. I don't get the Firing of Les Miles if all we were going to do is balk on two different coaches and hire a coach just because he loves LSU... And it's his dream job. I mean, there are a lot of home grown coaches with this dream. You don't pick a coach solely because he wants the job... Because really - that's all Alleva did. The players are going to almost always pull of the in-house guy. And even if it WAS about money... You had about 20 other coaches that were more qualified you could have gotten for the same money... AKA PJ FLECK.
