I'm not disputing that, it's just that nick saban, from what I've seen is not a great coach.
The undefeated, national champion 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide featured these starters
CB - Kareem Jackson (3-star)
CB - Javier Arenas (2-star)
SS - Mark Barron (4-star)
FS - Justin Woodall (4-star)
OLB - Corey Reamer (3-star)
ILB - Rolando McClain (4-star)
ILB - Donta Hightower (3/4-star)
OLB - Eryk Anders (walk on)
DE - Brandon Deaderick (3-star)
DT - Terrence Cody (3-star)
DE - Lorenzo Washington (3/4 star)
LT - James Carpenter (3-star)
LG - Mike Johnson (3-star)
C - William Vlachos (2-star)
RG - Barrett Jones (4-star)
RT - Drew Davis (2-star)
TE - Colin Peek (transfer)
WR - Julio Jones (5-star)
WR - Marquise Maze (3-star)
RB - Mark Ingram (3/4 star)
QB - Greg McElroy (3 star)
14 of the 22 starters were 3 stars or worse. We started 1 5-star (Julio Jones). That team went 14-0 and beat Florida and Texas for the SECCG and BCS NT.
2 of our starters at linebacker were a 3-star high school safety and a walk on who transferred from MTSU. Our starting corners were a guy who picked us out of JuCo over Vanderbilt and a guy whose only other D1 offer was FIU. Our QB backed out of a commitment to Texas Tech to take our scholarship when Tebow said no, and our running back picked us over Michigan State and Iowa (Michigan didn't offer him).
So with the above rosters posted in this thread, rosters with "recruiting site stars talent" on par with basically what Ole Miss and Arkansas have today, Nick Saban went 26-2, won the West 2 times, won an SEC Title, won a National title and had 2 undefeated regular seasons.
Yea, dude can only coach 5-stars.
