This is actually one of the better hypothetical reorganizations of the SEC I've seen. You keep the traditional rivalries like TSIO and DSOR and make those divisional games and you keep the Iron Bowl as a divisional game. Since Auburn and Ole Miss both lose their cross-division rivalry opponent, they become an East-West matchup. You then make Alabama-LSU a cross-divisional matchup to keep that rivalry, and figure out the rest.

IF that happens (and it won't ever happen), then you lose the cross division rivalries all together...

True, it would negate the need for permanent cross-divisional opponents since teams like Alabama/Tennessee and Georgia/Auburn would be in the same division.

The whole cross-division rivalry setup at present is sort of ridiculous anyway, especially now that we have 14 teams but still only 8 conference games. It doesn't make sense to go half a decade without playing a team (Arkansas hasn't played Vandy since 2011 likely won't until 2018). It's also unfair for LSU to have to play Florida every year while Ole Miss gets to play Vandy.
