Nebraska football finished in the top 10 24 times from 1970-2001. Since then, they have finished in the top 10 zero times and finished unranked 8 times in 14 seasons.

From 1980-2003 Miami finished in the top 10 16 times. Since then, they have finished in the top 10 zero times. They've only finished ranked once the past 9 seasons and haven't finished ranked since 2009. Prior to 1980, they finished in the top 10 once in their entire history.

Tennessee finished in the top 10 12 times from 1970-2001. Since 2001, Tennessee has not finished in the top 10 and have finished unranked 9 times in 14 seasons. Last year (#22) was the first time they'd finished ranked since 2007.

Conversely, we've already gone over LSU's finish through 1999. From 2000-present, LSU has finished in the top 10 7 times in 15 years and unranked only 3 times. Prior to 1970, LSU finished in the top 10 7 times from 1958-1969.

I could go on, but you should get the point

Good post. Historical results are not guarantees of future returns. It's interesting but history does tell us something in the CFB realm.
