No. SEC West could level out in the next couple years. LSU could be Tennessee after firing Fulmer....Ole Miss could get sanction hammers dropped on them...Miss St looks like they have already regressed into a cellar dwellar and if Saban retires or moves to the NFL Bama could decline.

Also we could do very well in the Big XII with our teams now but we would decline if we moved so we'd be middle of the road again.

The real issue is lack of recruiting. At some point we have to get an all star recruiter on our staff. Petrino could win with schemes, Bert obviously can't.

Things will work out in time.

The honest truth is that Texas really did cut yall off from Texas recruiting by refusing to play yall way back when, and today you aren't even on the mental map of Texas recruits. I wish I could say the Southwest Classic is undoing that local brand damage, but A&M isn't important enough, the game is too early, and Arky hasn't had a lot of success in that game recently.

It will all work out in the long run. The LHN contract goes through 2030 and Texas doesn't seem like they want to get rid of it before then. By 2030 the recruits of that day will have lived their entire lives in a world where the State of Texas is part of the SEC and where the SEC is the most relevant conference in that state. Sometime in the next decade it should be easier for both A&M and Arky to recruit kids that otherwise would have gone to Big 12 teams, and if LSU screws up their next hire (very likely given their piss poor AD) then that script could flip even sooner.

Losing to a Bama sucks today but it is that Bama brand that is smothering Texas and OU in the state and making it easier for all SEC teams to recruit well down the road. If OU decides to break away from the Big 12 (and give up the Texas rivalry game in the process) then things could change ever faster. OU in the SEC would build up both Arky (who gets a regional rival) and A&M (who gets to take over the RRR as the big game in Texas OU needs for recruiting). At that point Texas's three major rivals will all be attacking the brand and appeal of their program, and together I am pretty sure we can turn them into a Nebraska (especially if they go to the PAC or B1G like I expect).

Point being just because its bad now because a GOAT coach is in the division doesn't mean it will alway be. Letting A&M in the SEC was the break the Arky program needed, and patience will reap large rewards for us all.
