Good Question and it is something I watched based off of the Ole Miss deer in headlights. He looks a little better however, at times he gets panicked and takes a sack.

This is the huge issue for me, you know how Coker would take a sack or throw that high flying pick. Almost the same thing. Thank God Coker broke that habit after Miss St. Here is the thing on 1 play, they did a corner blitz and Bateman froze, took the sack for like a 7-9 yard loss. He could have ran, he is def quick enough BUT HE NEVER DOES, I don't get why. There was another play where he had green grass for 20 as he rolled out, he chucked it 20 yards over Ridley's head. He does not run like ever. Maybe he is saving it for the day but from my foxhole he never tucked and ran except once on a design run.

Obviously, I'm no insider, but I wonder if Cooper's stint at WR was possibly due to him being a bit timid under fire. Maybe they wanted him to take a couple of hits, kinda like baseball coaches that peg younger players with tennis balls to remove that early fear of a pitched ball.

One of the biggest complaints about his outing against Ole Miss, was his apparent reluctance to take off and run with the ball.

And as we have heard multiple times, one reason he was given the reigns for Ole Miss was the read option package put in specifically for his skill set; to run the damn ball! And there were several times when he should have kept it and run. But he did not, which, I believe, contributed to his being sat down. Sounds like more of the same. That is my biggest concern with Cooper and why I don't see him as the long term solution at QB. He doesn't have moxie. Game, set, and match, Hurts.

Until I see otherwise, I am rock solid in my belief that Cooper Bateman will take the first snap against the USC Trojans. However, the number of snaps he takes after that point is totally dependent on his performance/decision making. Hurts will see the field at some point. We may still rotate them for some time to come, but Hurts is the answer. Some of the people on this board better get ready for it.
