USC won by a bigger margin of victory, and it ended up being that one of their regular season games was against a Power 5 conference champion.

Auburn's OOC games that year were against powerhouses UL Monroe (well, they did beat Alabama a few years later

), The Citadel, and La Tech... USC beat Oklahoma 55-19 when Auburn came very close to losing to Va Tech (fullback dropped wide open pass in the end zone that would have given them lead).
