We tend to overlook or downplay a lot of the quality football that is played on the West Coast. But there is a lot of good football out there and If Alabama or LSU had to play either Stanford, USC or Oregon year in and out, I think we would change our assessment of the play of many PAC 12 teams. Nobody is overlooking the current Pac 12, which is a very good league. I am discussing the Pac 10 of 2000-2008, which was USC, Oregon, a few 8-9 win programs and trash. That doesn't discount USC, they went out and pounded everything, Pac 10/SEC/Big XII.
