Never. Georgia has what Tennessee has never had...an ample number of black high school athletes within the immediate area. Even under Fulmer, UT had to recruit nationally and dip into areas way outside of East Tennessee because there are hardly any black people that live in eastern Tennessee. The four most impactful guys on that national championship team. Deon Grant, Jamal Lewis, Cozey Coleman, and one other who I cannot think of at the moment all came from the state of Georgia. Throw in Peerless Price from Ohio and Tee Martin from Alabama and you see the problem. UT doesn't have the luxury of "cultivating" a particular recruiting area, whereas UGA can do that within 75 miles of campus.

You and I don't always agree, but you nailed that one.

Didn't used to have that but lately that is changing and it is helping Butch and will likely really help stabilize TN into the future.
On this team alone who is a title contender you have the following TN raised born impact players
RB - Jalen Hurd - 5*
WR - Josh Malone - 5*
OT - Drew Richmond - 5*
DE - Kyle Phillips - 5*
DE - Derek Barnett - 4*
LB - Jalen Reeves Maybin - 4*
S - Todd Kelly Jr - 4*
NB - Rashaun Gaulden - 4*
CB - Justin Martin - 4*
