2014 first game of the season: UGA -45, Clemson - 21. I used this one because '15 was a cupcake.
Offenses have a definitive game plan and defenses have reactionary, adjustable plans, depending on how their offensive opponents perform. Cheney will have a ball control, spread-it-around scheme and, if successful, UNC's D will be on the field a lot. UNC doesn't (can't) have any film on us and we have lots (Baylor) on them. Advantage us. I think we win pretty big.

rst game of the season that's a big advantage for the offense

Yes. It is. Early in the season (1st couple of games) the advantage is normally with the defense. Offense requires timing and it takes time to get that timing down. Defense, while they have assignments, is more reaction. In a very basic way of putting it (And this is WAY oversimplified) defense is primarily instinct/reaction. You go to the ball. AGAIN...that is way over simplified and I realize this does not say it all.
Offense is more timing. Handing the ball off is a lot of timing. Familiarity on whether the QB is handing the ball off or pulling the ball out and doing something else with a play involving options. Timing between the QB and WR. I understand they work together a lot....but even Olympic track relay teams drop the baton. So, it is a lot of getting used to each other again for the QB/RB/WRs.
