Tuttle also broke the lower part of his leg right above the ankle and had to get plates and screws. Tough injury for a 300 pounder

You got that right. That's a lot of weight to try to put on an ankle that's been broken. Hope it heals completely and he has a good year against everybody but us!

IIRC, he only stopped wearing a boot on it this summer and is very limited in practice right now (he's there but basically doing his own thing along with the other injured players). Tuttle is a superstar in the making both at UT and in the NFL but I don't know when we'll get him back. It takes a lot longer for a big man to get back from an injury like that and he's behind in his conditioning.

Some have said we may be lucky to get Tuttle back for the season and that we might red shirt him since we've got Kongbo and Barnett capable of sliding inside on certain downs and can otherwise be fine at DT barring injuries but Tuttle is a true playmaker and having him this year would be huge for us.

We may actually slide both Kongbo and Barnett inside on a few passing plays regardless of Tuttle's status as speed set because we've got at least 4 DEs that can all start and both Kongbo and Barnett have the ability to play inside. There's been a lot of smoke around that as a possible play and as a fan that would be fun as hell to watch if they occasionally run it. Of course, a lot of plays like that never make it to the field due to circumstances or whatever and I imagine this wouldn't be used a lot even if it does become one we run.

At any rate, I hope we see Tuttle back soon. Kahlil McKenzie has lost a ton of weight and picked up a step or three and those two played great together last season as true freshmen.
