Coach Bobby Bentley is making big moves. Bentley and Muschamp greeted him when he arrived. Expect Coach BMac to play a role in his recruitment as well.
Zamir is good friends the Trav Robertson's younger brother and is friends with current Gamecock commit Jaylin Dickerson.
We also had Byron McKnight and Jay Wooten from his HS. I'm stoked to see that we're at least throwing our hat in the ring here. We offered a long time ago but haven't pressed in a year.

Zamir had a good visit. Marcus Lattimore's family came down to visit with his. Marcus had called Zamir earlier in the week. Zamir is now expected to come down for a game or 2 this season. Columbia is about 2 hours from his house.

In high school, Demetrius Summers was one of the best I've ever seen at shedding tacklers. Marcus Lattimore was one of the best I've ever seen at getting extra yardage after contact (always falling forward picking up another 2+ yards.)
This guy is a great combination of both of those traits. He is ridiculously fast for 210 lbs. Definitely within the 4.40 +/- a little bit. He has GREAT lateral movement in his cuts, and can shift 3 yards while keeping momentum. He keeps low going through the LOS and both hands on the ball. He's very explosive in his cuts. He gets a lot of extra yardage after contact. He's not a guy that can be brought down with a 1 arm tackle or by hitting him at/above the chest. He is absolutely an every-down RB. He did all this in NC 4A ball.
Last season he had 260 carries, for 2,159 yards, 8.3 ypc and 41 rushing TD's. He's going to be a stud in college, hopefully it's at SC.
Another interesting point...he wears #34...another team recruiting him can't give out #34 at this point in time...b/c it's retired.

Zamir is coming down to a game this fall. I would think it might be the game against georgia.
TM at 247 is reporting that Zeus's recruitment is shaping up to be a SC, unc, clemson and uga battle b/c he wants to be close enough to home (Scotland County, NC) that his family can easily come see him play. So while bama was thought to be a bigger factor earlier, that's not how it's going to shake out.
His HS position coach, Paul Adams, was coached by SC's Bobby Bentley, so there's a great connection there. Plus we've recruited a lot of talent out of Scotland County over the years and have a great rep in the community. Gamecocks Jay Wooten, Byron McKnight, and Trav Robertson were from Scotland.
Distances from Laurinburg, NC
- Columbia, SC 137 miles (about 2 hrs)
- clemson, SC 235 miles ( 4 hrs)
- Chapel Hill, NC 91 miles (1-3/4 hrs)
- Athens, Ga 296 miles ( 4-1/2 hrs)

That is an amazing connection to have! Hopefully it works out in our favor here. Should be a long road though.

Wow ... our coaches were really busy this summer.
That kid would be a big get on signing day.
