As bad as Dubose was and as humiliating as the Mike Price incident was...it was probably those few weeks after we canned Shula. We fired Shula, we were rejected by Rodriguez and Saban had publically turned us down. Bama was the laughing stock of college football. The pundits said no one would want to coach there and that the glory days were long gone....and frankly it seemed like they were right. Recruiting was fricked again and we would have to settle for another assistant like Shula or some NFL retread coach like Perkins......it really felt like the end of days as a Bama fan and the hell we had endured would never end.

I remember on the old TideSports they were passing around Mal Moore's email address. I came home drunk one night and typed out what was at least in my mind a very poignant summation of everything that was wrong with Bama over the past 10-20 years. Read it and reread it then hit "Send". Told him if he botched this hire and he should resign.
