The goal posts aren't being moved. I am using your logic.

You stated that he had fewer sacks in league play because aTm was passed on a league low. So, he should have been better against the run and had more TFL since his defense led the league in times being run against.

Its pretty simple.

That being said, in an over/under 4-3, the DTs keeping the OGs home dictates rushing defense efficiency, not the DEs. Your logic is flawed.

My logic is not flawed. Having experience playing in a 4-3 defense the DE's assignments give him ample opportunity to have TFL or sacks on most plays. Offensive guards will release to a LB that is covering them if the offense is facing a 4-3 defense. Most DT's in a 4-3 will initially be double teamed or at least chipped, giving the DE's one on one match ups on almost each and every play.

Jonathan Bullard led the SEC with more 2 TFLs against 15 fewer rushing attempts while played next to a far deeper rotation at DT. There wasn't a DT on aTm"s roster that would start for UF and teams ran right at Garrett in an effort to neutralize him. Garrett also played his division games against a deeper OT pool.

You should let the coaches know they got it wrong when they named him to the 1st team All SEC.
