I believe Nick Saban was extremely happy with CFB. I believe Wayne Huizenga, one of the GOAT salesman, sold him on the NFL and the Dolphins. Didn't take Saban long to find out it was not for him.

Saban always had an eye on the NFL.
Came up through the NFL
I don't think he had to be sold, but when he got there he realized dealign with professionals isn't dealign with kids who's lives you control.
ITs a personality thing.
