Only a college baseball fan would see it that way.

The whole concept of the "Big 3" is basically "these are the three college sports that matter." When you are talking cultural relevance (ie "what matters") there is no better metrics than TV ratings or social media mentions. Period.

The reality that many fans here don't want to accept is that nationally most sports fans don't give a shite about college baseball. Even in the SEC, overall most SEC fans don't give a shite about college baseball. It is a subpar product without elite talent and it shows. Women's Basketball is more relevant (via ratings) than college baseball for a reason- that league has professional level talent in it.

The only reason people on this forum delude themselves into thinking college baseball is a bigger deal than it is because a few of the programs in the SEC care more about it than most programs in the country. It's a regional quirk at best, and one that isn't even shared across the entire SEC.

If there was such a thing as a Big 10 Rant then I bet some of those posters would claim college hockey was part of the "Big 3." I bet on a PAC Rant people would claim Lacrosse was one of the Big 3. They are just as wrong as the SEC fans are that try to claim baseball.

There is a big one and a little one. And that is all. There is no third, nothing comes close to men's college basketball nationally for relevance.

But I honestly don't care if people want to pretend baseball is part of a "Big 3." A while back I realized that me shitting on college baseball is like when Aggie haters shite on us for having the gall to not fold our program just because people say mean things about it. People like different things, and popularity isn't always a sign of quality. If someone likes college baseball more power to them, the whole point of all college sports is entertainment anyway. It isn't like the G8 where international politics are at stake.

Sure there are, attendance, for one.

What many of you don't seem to want to accept is that this ISN'T A NATIONAL BOARD.

I'm pretty sure if you totaled up attendance numbers across the entire SEC, but JUST the SEC, you would see: #1. football, #2. Men's basketball, #3. Baseball.

Now if you want to talk about hockey and lacrosse, go to some other regional board, I'm sure those sports rank higher in other parts of the country.
